Virtual Therapy in California, Colorado, Oklahoma & Wisconsin
Fees, Insurance & Getting Started
A simple overview of fees, insurance, and how the process works before you begin.
Getting Started
Beginning therapy does not require certainty, a label, or a crisis.
Many clients reach out when something feels off, patterns are becoming more noticeable, or they want support around alcohol use, anxiety, or relationship dynamics.
The first step is a consultation. This is a space to ask questions, get a sense of the approach, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
Fees
Individual therapy sessions are $250 for a 50-minute session.
Fees are discussed during consultation to ensure clarity and alignment before beginning care.
A Good Faith Estimate is available upon request.
Insurance
Kinship Care & Therapy is a private-pay, out-of-network practice.
Some clients have out-of-network benefits through their insurance plan, which may allow for partial reimbursement. Documentation can be provided to support reimbursement requests.
If you are unsure about your benefits, this can be reviewed during the intake process.
Virtual Therapy
All therapy sessions are conducted virtually through secure, HIPAA-compliant video.
Online therapy works similarly to in-person therapy, with the added flexibility of attending sessions from your own space.
You will receive instructions prior to your first session to complete intake forms and access the client portal.

Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
